TMD (TMJ disorders) can cause tooth damage, headaches, and jaw issues. Signs include loud grinding or clenching, worn or cracked teeth, tooth sensitivity, jaw tightness, clicking/locking, or earache-like pain.
While treatment isn’t always needed - mild cases may resolve on their own! - for severe cases, options include:
Dental splints to protect teeth;
Physical therapy for jaw muscles;
Stress or anxiety management;
Behavioral changes, and;
Botox injections for severe cases.
At home, you can try reducing stress, avoiding evening stimulants like caffeine, and maintaining good sleep habits.
